Interior Ministry arrests group planning armed acts in Damascus countryside

Internal security units in Damascus Countryside governorate, in coordination with the Counter-Terrorism Branch, carried out a preemptive security operation in the al-Wurood neighborhood of Qudsaya, targeting an outlawed armed group who posed a threat to security and stability.

In a post published Monday on its official Telegram channel, the Interior Ministry said: “The internal security units arrested ‘M.A.,’ ‘Q.D.’ and ‘M.A.’ for their engagement in planning armed acts.” The ministry added that the detainees were referred to the Counter-Terrorism Department to complete investigations and take the necessary legal measures.

Separately, the Internal Security Directorate in Douma city, also in Damascus Countryside, dismantled a network specializing in stealing and trading electrical cables, following field surveillance of the suspects’ movements.

That operation, carried out Sunday, resulted in the arrest of all six individuals involved after security forces identified their identities and locations and executed a tightly coordinated security action.
