Iran’s Top Legislator Issues Ominous Warning to Adversaries Regarding Future Defense Measures
Iran's leading parliamentary figure has issued a warning to the nation's adversaries, suggesting that the extent of Iran's forthcoming defensive strategies may prove to be unexpected.
Majlis Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf expressed his views in a post on X, previously known as Twitter, on Tuesday following Trump’s latest threats of military action against Iran.
Iran’s strategic choices and measures to protect its interests and engage in legitimate self-defense may not follow predictable patterns or mirror past actions, Qalibaf stated.
He stated that any aggressive actions or provocations would be met with a comprehensive, resolute, and potentially unanticipated response from the Iranian populace.
Iran declares it requires no external authorization to ensure its own defense.
The threatening remarks made by Trump on Monday, alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have incited similar outrage among Iranian officials, the nation’s citizens, and allies of the Islamic Republic.
Masoud Pezeshkian issued a resolute statement countering Trump’s threat, pledging that any additional acts of hostility would be countered with a decisive and “regret-inducing” retaliation.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared that the United States would be held wholly accountable for any repercussions stemming from acts of aggression directed at Iran. He cautioned that the Islamic Republic stands ready to deliver a firm response without hesitation.
The former official highlighted the repercussions from the unlawful and unprovoked Israeli-American conflict with Iran in June, which prompted strategic and unified defensive and counteractions by the Iranian Armed Forces. The official emphasized that any new act of aggression would place responsibility solely on the United States.
In response to Trump’s threat, Russia called on all involved parties to exercise restraint and avoid further escalation.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized the importance of avoiding actions that could heighten tensions in the region, underscoring the necessity of engaging in dialogue with Iran as a primary step.
**Russia Issues Warning to Reckless Actors**
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova urged those fueling tensions with the Islamic Republic to exercise restraint and step back from escalating the situation.
She further described the Israeli administration’s threats of initiating additional military action against the nation as a matter of legitimate concern.
