Khaled Meshaal Urges Trump to Prioritize MAGA Supporters Over israel-First Policy
Senior Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal called on the United States to shift away from its Israel-focused foreign policy, urging Trump to reconsider its stance. Meshaal highlighted that even Trump's own MAGA supporters are beginning to see Israel as a "burden" that negatively impacts American interests.

On Thursday, in an interview with Drop Site in Doha, Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal, who operates outside of Palestine, expressed that the “Make America Great Again” faction among Trump’s supporters perceives Israel as a strategic liability.
Khaled Meshaal has criticized the United States administration, claiming it places Israel’s interests above its own. He further suggested that even Trump’s supporters, often referred to as MAGA, have come to see Israel as a liability that hampers and damages American interests.
Meshaal stated that should the United States exert pressure on Israel to retreat from the occupied territories, Hamas and the Palestinian populace would embrace such an intervention.
Hamas has expressed its willingness to collaborate with the United States and the international community in establishing a stable security environment within Gaza. This initiative aims to facilitate the reconstruction of the enclave, pave the way for democratic elections, and create the necessary political conditions for negotiations regarding the future of a Palestinian state.
Meshaal emphasized that any effort to create an authority in Gaza that is not Palestinian is both unacceptable and destined for failure.
A spokesperson stated that any non-Palestinian presence, such as foreign authorities or forces within Gaza, would be perceived by Palestinians as an occupying power. The individual questioned the rationale behind rejecting Israeli occupation only to accept another form of foreign occupation.
Approximately two months following the initiation of a ceasefire in Gaza brokered by the United States, Egypt, and Qatar, Washington is reportedly in the process of organizing an “International Stabilization Force” in the region. The U.S. is actively encouraging participation from various countries, including those with Muslim majorities, to supply military personnel for this initiative.
Several Arab and Muslim nations have expressed their decision to abstain from participating in any operations targeting the disarmament or confrontation of Palestinian resistance groups.
The leader of Hamas stated, “We will not accept any form of occupation, oversight, or backing for an occupying force. Our criticism of the United States stems not from its identity, but from its comprehensive support for Israel, our occupier.”
He emphasized that fostering positive engagement with Hamas and the Palestinian people is crucial for the United States and Western nations, highlighting that they represent the future while the current occupation is likely to become a historical concern.
Meshaal stated that Israeli violations persist even after the cessation of large-scale fighting, emphasizing the necessity for Israel to fully adhere to the initial phase of the agreements before progressing to further stages. He also mentioned that Hamas remains dedicated to the second phase through continued discussions with mediators.
Hamas has indicated its willingness to “freeze” or store its defensive arsenal but has emphasized that disarmament will only be considered within the framework of forming a Palestinian army or security force capable of protecting against perceived Israeli aggression.
Although Palestinians may understandably feel frustrated with certain Arab nations for not taking action against Israel’s actions, Meshaal stressed that the United States is the only entity that possesses significant influence over Israel.
Trump and the American administration hold the unique capability to compel Israel and its Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, to adhere to agreements. Therefore, they bear this responsibility before any other regional or international body is held accountable, he added.
