US Military Spending Bill Mandates Washington to Protect ‘israel’ from Arms Embargo

The United States' annual military expenditure legislation mandates Washington to alleviate the impact of international arms restrictions placed on Israel due to the regime's severe actions against Palestinians.

On Wednesday, the U.S. House of Representatives approved the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for 2026, allocating $900 billion to military initiatives.

A comprehensive 3,000-page legislative bill includes a significant clause mandating the United States to methodically identify, evaluate, and address any deficiencies in Israeli weaponry resulting from sanctions imposed on the regime due to its military actions in the Gaza Strip and activities in the occupied West Bank.

The directive calls for the US Secretary of Defense to carry out ongoing evaluations of existing and potential arms embargoes against Israel, analyzing how these restrictions might undermine the capabilities of the Israeli military forces.

The measure also obliges Washington to pinpoint particular weapons systems or technologies that Israel is unable to obtain or upgrade due to sanctions, and subsequently develop effective strategies to address these deficiencies.

According to a report by the Middle East Monitor, Section 1706 of the National Defense Authorization Act serves as a type of political and logistical safeguard, effectively shielding Israel from international accountability.

In essence, should Israel face restrictions in obtaining a weapons system from an alternative supplier, the United States will either produce a substitute, accelerate sales, or adjust its military-industrial production to fulfill Israel’s requirements.

The House Armed Services Committee, responsible for reviewing the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) prior to its consideration by the House of Representatives, announced that the annual military legislation includes “unprecedented levels of support for the security of Israel.”

The newly approved legislation earmarks $80 million for a collaborative anti-tunneling initiative between the United States and Israel, alongside an additional $70 million designated for Israel’s defense against drone attacks and other emerging aerial threats. Furthermore, the bill provides $35 million for the United States to launch a new joint program with Israel and G7 nations to test and develop advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, quantum computing, cybersecurity, robotics, and automation.

In 2024, Israel is set to receive $6.8 billion in U.S. military aid, marking a significant increase from its usual annual allocation of approximately $3.3 billion.

The Israeli government has been accused of utilizing U.S.-supplied weaponry in military actions described as war crimes, crimes against humanity, and acts of genocide against the Palestinian population.

Human rights organizations have accused the United States government of being complicit in Israel’s serious violations and hold it responsible for the bloodshed of Palestinians.
