Venezuelan Foreign Minister Praises Iran’s Supportive Position

In a Telegram post, Gil conveyed profound gratitude to the Islamic Republic of Iran on behalf of Nicolas Maduro, acknowledging Iran’s support for Venezuela’s sovereignty and independent status. He expressed appreciation for Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei’s endorsement, emphasizing Venezuela’s commitment to upholding the United Nations Charter in the face of unwarranted external pressures.

He emphasized the importance of solidarity and cooperation grounded in mutual respect with Iran, which he believes could lead to the establishment of a multipolar world.

Earlier, during discussions with Iran’s Ambassador to Caracas, Ali Chegeni, Gil expressed gratitude for Tehran’s support in countering US threats, while underscoring that Venezuela and Iran remain committed to advancing diplomacy centered on justice and peace.

He highlighted that Venezuela and Iran are set to remain advocates for diplomacy centered on justice and peace.

In a press conference, Baqaei asserted that Venezuela, as a United Nations member state, possesses the fundamental right to safeguard itself from any external threats and aggression.

He stated that there is no justification for aggressive actions or the use of force against the nation.

He cautioned that the action taken by the United States presents unparalleled threats to international aviation safety and could potentially have perilous implications for the rule of law, in addition to impacting global peace and security.

He called upon the international community to pay attention to what he described as a destabilizing action that threatens to undermine long-established principles of international conduct.

On Saturday, Trump announced that the airspace over and surrounding Venezuela should be regarded as completely restricted. This statement comes as Washington ramps up pressure on Nicolas Maduro’s administration, though no further specifics were provided.
