Milan Demonstrators Urge for Freedom of Palestinians in Israeli Detention
In a demonstration that forms part of a broader wave of solidarity protests across Italy, hundreds of individuals gathered in the streets of Milan on Saturday, calling for the release of Palestinians who remain in Israeli custody.

Protests erupted with demonstrators marching and brandishing Palestinian flags, carrying placards that read ‘People have the power’ and ‘Freedom for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.’
Demonstrators were observed holding a banner with the message, “We are all Hannoun.” This refers to Mohammad Hannoun, the President of the Palestinians in Italy Association, who has recently been issued a travel ban on allegations of “instigating violence.”
Milan’s police commissioner has reportedly issued an order preventing Hannoun from entering the city for a year. This decision stems from remarks he allegedly made during the pro-Palestine demonstration on October 18.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has announced that as of October 2025, the number of Palestinians incarcerated in Israeli prisons has surpassed 11,000. Among them, approximately 3,500 are under administrative detention, a condition where they are detained without charge or trial.
Israeli officials have confirmed the statistics, emphasizing that administrative detention remains a crucial measure for national security, with the possibility of indefinite renewal to avert potential threats.
