Hamas Commits to Gaza Ceasefire Amid U.S. Concerns Over ‘israeli’ Trustworthiness

Senior Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya has affirmed the Palestinian resistance movement's commitment to honoring "every term" of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. This statement comes amid rising concerns from several US officials about the possibility of Israel abandoning the accord.

In an early Tuesday interview with al-Qahera News, an Egyptian broadcasting station, the lead negotiator of the movement declared that all Palestinian factions stand united in their mission to put a definitive end to what they call a war of genocide.

He underscored their unwavering commitment to executing the agreement established in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh earlier this month, expressing trust in the assurances provided by mediators and allied nations.

The group declared on October 9 its commitment to the agreement, expressing its intention to release all remaining Israeli captives, both living and deceased, in Gaza. Additionally, it seeks the administration of the coastal enclave to be transferred to a Palestinian authority.

According to al-Hayya, discussions centered around the 20-point proposal, conducted in Sharm el-Sheikh and Cairo, indicate an international consensus declaring the cessation of the conflict in Gaza.

**”Commitment to Long-Term Stability Emphasized for Agreement”**

A representative from the resistance emphasized Hamas’s commitment to fully executing the terms of the agreement, which includes the retrieval and exchange of bodies as outlined in the accord.

He acknowledged the significant challenges arising from the extensive devastation following the genocide initiated in October 2023 and assured that Hamas is committed to “resolving the issue entirely.”

An official reported that humanitarian aid deliveries through Gaza’s crossings have successfully reached the established targets. The official also expressed optimism that mediators would enhance support, especially in terms of shelter, medical supplies, and relief efforts, in anticipation of the upcoming winter.

Al-Hayya expressed confidence in the longevity of the agreement, emphasizing that it is expected to last due to both the desire for its continuance and the extensive international support and assurances it has received. He added that these factors provide reassurance that the agreement will indeed be sustained, God willing.

The agreement is considered crucial to achieving peace for the Palestinian people.

A representative from Hamas emphasized that the complete execution of the agreement is essential for concluding the conflict and enabling Palestinians to “live in peace like other nations.”

The statements emerged alongside multiple reports highlighting alleged Israeli breaches of the agreement, which reportedly include the deaths of approximately 100 Palestinians due to aggressive actions and the suspension of aid deliveries to Palestinian territory.

**United States Expresses Concerns Over Potential Israeli Reversal**

The New York Times has reported that multiple officials from the Trump administration are increasingly worried about the possibility of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu backing out of the agreement.

According to the report, high-ranking officials such as Vice President J.D. Vance, regional envoy Steve Witkoff, and advisor Jared Kushner were involved in attempts to prevent Netanyahu from escalating military actions in Gaza to full-scale conflict.

Trump has reportedly dismissed Israeli assertions that Hamas breached the agreement’s terms.

A high-ranking U.S. official informed The New York Times that Witkoff and Kushner described the situation as “very delicate,” cautioning that the agreement now faces potential jeopardy.

The regime has flagrantly breached a comparable agreement established in the early phases of the conflict, along with a pact concerning prisoner exchange and a ceasefire that surfaced in January.

In both instances, the regime significantly intensified the genocide, which has thus far resulted in the loss of over 68,000 Palestinian lives, predominantly women and children.

The trajectory of the conflict was also characterized by well-documented attempts, as confirmed by Israeli authorities, by Netanyahu to obstruct the progress of negotiations.
