IRGC Chief Commander Affirms Commitment to Deepening Strategic Ties with Yemen
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps of Iran has announced its readiness to enhance strategic collaboration with Yemeni military forces in their collective struggle against what it terms as global arrogance and international Zionism.

On Sunday, Major General Mohammad Pakpour, the Chief Commander of the IRGC, expressed his condolences to Brigadier General Youssef Hassan Al-Madani, the Chief of Staff of the Yemeni Armed Forces. The message followed the martyrdom of Major General Mohammad Abd al-Karim al-Ghamari, who passed away due to injuries inflicted during Israeli airstrikes in August. The attack also claimed the lives of several companions and his 13-year-old son, Hussein.
Pakpour stated that Ghamari’s martyrdom would serve to further strengthen the resolve of the courageous Yemeni nation in their confrontation against the staunch adversaries of Muslim nations, as they continue their struggle for the oppressed and justice-seekers, particularly for the people of Palestine and Gaza.
The chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps extended his congratulations to Madani on his recent appointment as Chief of Staff of the Yemeni Armed Forces. He noted that this development signals the continuation of Ghamari’s legacy and the bolstering of the resistance front against adversaries.
In a televised announcement on Thursday, the Yemeni military confirmed that Ghamari had been martyred while fulfilling his responsibilities in support of Palestine. They characterized him and his fellow soldiers as dedicated combatants with significant expertise and unwavering commitment to their mission.
The airstrike on August 28 resulted in the deaths of Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmad al-Rahawi and several of his ministers. The Sana’a government was engaged in a routine workshop to evaluate its activities from the past year when Israeli warplanes carried out the strike.
Since the intensification of hostilities in the Gaza Strip in October 2023, forces from Yemen have launched numerous operations in solidarity with Gazans, attacking various targets across the occupied Palestinian territories. These actions extended to targeting Israeli ships or vessels bound for ports within the occupied territories.
On October 7, 2023, Israel initiated a significant military operation in Gaza following an unexpected offensive by the Palestinian group Hamas, known as Operation Al-Aqsa Storm. This move was framed as a response to longstanding tensions and hostilities between the two parties, rooted in historical conflict and the ongoing struggles faced by Palestinians under Israeli policies.
Israel has conducted a series of lethal airstrikes throughout Yemen, actions that are widely viewed as a blatant breach of international law and the United Nations Charter.
