Syrian Intelligence Dismantles ISIS Cell in Damascus Countryside

Syrian intelligence forces, in coordination with the Internal Security Directorate in Damascus countryside, carried out a targeted operation against an ISIS-affiliated terrorist cell in the northern part of the governorate, Interior Ministry said on Saturday.
According to a statement by the Interior Ministry on its Telegram channel, the operation followed careful field monitoring and continuous surveillance of the cell’s movements. The operation resulted in the “complete dismantling of the group”, with one member arrested and two others neutralized after one attempted to detonate an explosive belt during the clash.
“Individual firearms, assorted ammunition, and an explosive belt” were found at the site. The arrested was referred to the relevant authorities for investigation before being presented to the competent judiciary.
The Ministry of Interior said the operation reflects its proactive approach to counterterrorism highlighting the readiness and high efficiency of its personnel in protecting national security and public safety.
