Palestinian Journalist’s Final Words Call for Liberation Through Sacrifice
A will has emerged belonging to a prominent Palestinian journalist, recently assassinated by a group with alleged Israeli backing. The document reveals his deep-seated anticipation of martyrdom in his mission to communicate the hardships faced by his people.

On Tuesday, Palestinian media outlets released the last will and testament of Saleh al-Ja’frawi, who was also known for his presence on social media.
In accordance with their will, the victim emphasized the sentiments expressed by Anas al-Sharif and his committed colleagues in their own final declarations.
Ja’frawi wrote, “Let my blood serve as a beacon, lighting the path of freedom for my people,” echoing the poignant final words of Sharif.
The individual portrayed his impending martyrdom not as a goodbye, but as a continuation of his committed journey, characterized by conviction, sacrifice, and dedication to the cause of his people in the Gaza Strip.
Palestinian authorities have attributed the targeted killing of the journalist to a group linked to the Daghmash family, reportedly supported by Tel Aviv.
In June, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged that his government had been providing arms and support to militants as part of efforts to counter the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas.
Ja’frawi announced his unwavering commitment to serve as a “pillar and advocate” for his community, enduring hardship, injustice, and personal loss, all while remaining steadfast in his mission to “deliver the unvarnished truth.”
The journalist described the truth as a relentless force, consistently supporting those who stand with Gaza while opposing those who remain silent.
Prior to his ultimate sacrifice, Ja’frawi reportedly shared with friends his experience of dealing with “threats and false accusations.”
On Tuesday, international criminal law and human rights lawyer Sara Segneri, based in London, declared that she and her team had submitted official complaints and called for probes into the killing by various United Nations investigative entities and special rapporteurs, in addition to the International Criminal Court.
Ja’frawi is one of the many journalists who lost their lives among over 67,500 Palestinians due to an Israeli military campaign initiated against Gaza on October 7, 2023, described by some as genocidal in nature.
