Israeli Military Cautions Palestinians to Avoid Northern Gaza Amid Ongoing Strikes, Despite Ceasefire

The Israeli military has issued a warning to Palestinians, advising them against returning to northern Gaza, as it conducts renewed airstrikes across the blockaded region. This action comes in spite of a recently declared ceasefire aimed at ending the ongoing conflict marked by severe violence.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Avichay Adraee, the Israeli military’s spokesperson for Arabic-language communications, asserted that the region north of Wadi Gaza, which serves as the boundary between the central and northern areas of the conflict-stricken territory, continues to be “a dangerous combat zone.”

He emphasized that Israeli forces remain positioned around Gaza City, cautioning that venturing back into the region presents a significant danger, as it is “still regarded as a hazardous combat zone.”

Adraee has called on Palestinians to avoid northern Gaza and any areas where Israeli forces are operating throughout the territory, including its southern and eastern regions, until new official directives are provided.

He emphasized the importance of safety, urging individuals to avoid returning north or moving towards areas where Israeli forces are positioned and active across the sector, including in the south and east, until official directives are provided.

Amid ongoing reports of a ceasefire agreement, Israel persists with its military operations throughout the beleaguered Gaza Strip.

Israeli airstrikes have struck the western part of Gaza City, reportedly impacting at least one residence within the Shati refugee camp, as per reports from Al Jazeera Arabic. Additionally, Israeli military forces have reportedly detonated an explosive-laden armored vehicle in close proximity to residential zones in the Sabra neighborhood, situated to the south of Gaza City.

Israel and the Palestinian resistance group Hamas have reached an agreement through indirect negotiations facilitated in Egypt on Wednesday evening. This deal seeks to put an end to two years of intense conflict in the Gaza Strip, based on a proposal presented by Trump.

The Gaza Civil Defense Agency reported multiple strikes on the territory following the announcement of the peace agreement.

Following the announcement of a proposed ceasefire framework in Gaza last night, numerous explosions have been reported, especially in the northern regions of the area. Mohammed al-Mughayyir, an official from the agency, highlighted what he described as “a series of intense airstrikes” targeting Gaza City.

Reports indicate that on October 7, 2023, the regime initiated a large-scale assault following a significant operation by resistance fighters from Gaza targeting the occupied Palestinian territories. The operation, named Al-Aqsa Flood, involved these fighters breaching Israeli strongholds and capturing hundreds of individuals.

Reports indicate that over 67,000 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, have lost their lives in Israeli assaults throughout the Gaza region since that time.
