Hamas Leader Emerges in Doha After Zionist Strikes, Shifting from Grief to Determination

Khalil al-Hayya, a prominent figure within Hamas, has surfaced for the first time following recent Israeli targeted operations against officials of the Palestinian resistance movement. In Doha, al-Hayya connected the theme of personal loss to the broader sacrifices shouldered by the nation.

The leader of Hamas’ negotiating team, representing the resistance, addressed the Palestinian nation on Saturday, speaking out about the recent assassination spree that resulted in the deaths of six individuals. Among those killed on September 9 were his son Hammam, his office manager Jihad Labad, and several other members of his office.

Hayya remarked that they currently exist under the dual influences of suffering and a deep sense of pride and dignity.

An official voiced profound sorrow over the losses, yet took pride in the victims, including his own son, for sacrificing their lives in pursuit of the Palestinian cause for liberation from the U.S.-supported Israeli occupation and aggression.

He stated that distinguishing between the victims and other individuals from the Gaza Strip was challenging, as they faced daily fatalities due to the regime’s relentless aggression, including the ongoing genocidal campaign that began in October 2023 on the coastal enclave.

An official expressed a lack of distinction between the individuals and Palestinian children in Gaza who have perished, attributing all deaths to the occupation’s actions. “All of them died due to the crime of the occupation,” the official stated.

Honoring Over a Century of Struggle and Resilience

Hayya honored over a century of Palestinian resistance against both regime actions and Western initiatives designed to bolster the regime’s expansionist objectives, which pose deadly threats to the Palestinian people.

“The Palestinian people, particularly those in Gaza, are part of a historic and enduring family, embodying the nation’s resilience through their struggle, patience, and unique sacrifices that span over a century in the Palestinian cause.”

The official concluded his speech by expressing hope for divine intervention to overcome the atrocities and pave a path to national glory and victory.

The assaults occurred while Hamas was fully engaged in negotiations facilitated by Qatar and Egypt, with the objective of halting the ongoing conflict that has resulted in approximately 66,300 Palestinian casualties, predominantly women and children.

The trajectory of the negotiations has encountered multiple impediments, notably due to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s actions, which have included rejecting concessions offered by Hamas.

The global community condemned the strikes, viewing them as emblematic of the regime’s determination to undermine diplomatic efforts in favor of perpetuating its lethal aggression and campaign of ethnic cleansing.
