Gaza Plan Threatens Palestinian Future, Says Senior Hamas Official

A senior representative from the Hamas resistance movement has condemned Trump's 20-point proposal intended to resolve Israel's conflict with Gaza. The official asserted that the plan not only focuses on Hamas as an organization but also threatens the broader Palestinian population and their national aspirations.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Abdul Rahman Shadid emphasized that the response to the plan, which presents significant threats to the future of the Palestinian cause, along with fundamental rights, principles, and political identity of the Palestinians, will involve a uniquely unified effort.

A definitive response is expected to be provided after further consultations with multiple Palestinian factions.

On Tuesday, Trump announced that Hamas has a “three or four day” timeframe to respond to his Gaza ceasefire proposal. He informed reporters that the plan had already received acceptance from both Israeli and Arab leaders.

“Hamas will either take action or face a very unfortunate outcome,” Trump stated at the White House.

Qatar announced that officials from Hamas were presented with the comprehensive proposal on Monday night and have committed to a “responsible examination” of its details.

Trump’s remarks followed an announcement from the White House detailing a proposal for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The plan reportedly includes the exchange of Israeli captives held by Hamas for Palestinians incarcerated in Israeli prisons, as well as a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area.

Under the proposal, Hamas would be obligated to relinquish its weapons, while the United States collaborates with Arab and international partners to establish a “temporary international stabilization force.”

According to the plan, Hamas is explicitly excluded from any role in the governance of Gaza.

Since the onset of the Gaza conflict in October 2023, Israeli military actions have resulted in the deaths of at least 66,148 individuals, with 168,716 others sustaining injuries.
