Hamas Praises ‘Heroic’ Car Ramming Incident in Occupied West Bank

The Palestinian resistance group Hamas has commended a recent car-ramming incident as a response to what it describes as Israeli settler aggression in the occupied West Bank.

Hamas emphasized on Tuesday that the “heroic” act highlights the unwavering determination of the Palestinian people in their resistance against what they describe as the escalating offenses by Israel within the occupied territories.

A Palestinian individual perpetrated a car ramming incident in the vicinity of the Nafaq checkpoint, situated between occupied al-Quds and Bethlehem.

The recent operation in Bethlehem underscores the resolve of the people to resist and vocally oppose the escalating actions in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

The resistance group expressed that the martyr’s sacrifice, demonstrated through their recent operation, will act as a driving force for liberation. They assert it will continue to inspire efforts to reclaim Palestinian territories and remove the occupying forces.

Hamas has indicated that the rising number of resistance actions conveys a definitive message: the Palestinian populace will not accept policies characterized by genocide and the expansion of settlements.

Earlier today, Israeli media reported that an incident involving a car ramming and shooting near the Nafaq checkpoint led to the injury of at least three Israeli settlers.

According to Palestine’s official Wafa news agency, which referenced information from the General Authority for Civil Affairs, the individual accused of the ramming incident was fatally shot by Israeli forces.

Authorities have identified the Palestinian individual as Mahdi Muhammad Awad Dirieh, 32.

According to the report, Israeli forces have blocked all access points to the Bethlehem governorate.

A recent incident unfolded just a day following a reported attack in which a vehicle, allegedly driven by a Palestinian, sped towards Israeli military personnel stationed at the Jit Junction. This location is situated near the Palestinian town sharing the same name and lies east of Qalqilya. The attack resulted in the death of one Israeli soldier.

Hamas has stated that the vehicle attack was a reaction to what it describes as Israel’s continuous and genocidal actions in Gaza against the Palestinian people.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli military and settlers have escalated their actions against Palestinians in the West Bank, subsequent to the commencement of conflict in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of hundreds and injuries to thousands across the occupied territories.

More than 700,000 Israelis live in over 230 settlements that have been developed since the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem in 1967.

The international community regards the settlements as a violation of international law and the Geneva Conventions, citing their establishment in occupied territories as unlawful.
