Israeli Forces Target Key Gaza City Health Center, Injuring Two Medical Personnel

The Palestinian Medical Relief Society (PMRS) reports that an Israeli shelling has led to the destruction of a medical center in Gaza City, causing injuries to at least two medical personnel.

According to a report by the official Palestinian WAFA news agency on Tuesday, the PMRS has claimed that Israeli forces have obstructed the removal of crucial equipment and supplies from the center. This center was instrumental in offering critical services, including caring for the injured, assisting cancer patients, and coordinating blood donations.

The charity reported that Israeli forces have surrounded another medical facility in the Tal al-Hawa district of the city. They also confirmed the demolition of a clinic located in the al-Shati refugee camp.

Since the onset of hostilities, a total of 1,723 healthcare workers have lost their lives in Gaza, according to recent reports. This significant toll underscores the dangers faced by medical personnel in conflict zones.

The Gaza Health Ministry has reported that Israeli forces have targeted 38 hospitals since October, leading to the tragic deaths of at least 1,723 healthcare workers.

Munir al-Bursh, the director general of the ministry, reported that the St John Eye Hospital, the al-Rantisi Children’s Hospital, and the Sheikh Hamad Hospital in Gaza City have been rendered “out of service” as a result of the recent attacks.

He voiced alarm regarding Israel’s continued blockade of aid to Gaza, specifically highlighting the restriction on fuel. He cautioned that if petrol is not permitted entry within the next 48 hours, hospitals could face impending shutdowns, potentially triggering a significant humanitarian crisis.

Israel has initiated a significant military operation in Gaza City, despite facing widespread international criticism.

Israel has consistently alleged that the Palestinian resistance organization Hamas has been constructing military facilities within civilian zones, particularly in Gaza City. However, these claims have been continually refuted by the resistance group.

On September 16, Gaza City was consumed by flames in the early hours as Israel initiated a fresh ground offensive, resulting in the deaths of dozens of civilians and leaving families trapped under the debris.

City residents have been advised to evacuate and move southward.

On October 7, 2023, Israel initiated extensive military actions in Gaza following a significant offensive by Hamas known as Operation Al-Aqsa Flood. This development was described as a response to what Hamas termed increased hostilities by Israel against Palestinians.

According to the Health Ministry in Gaza, a reported 65,340 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, have lost their lives due to actions by the regime.

Gaza is experiencing widespread hunger as a result of Israel’s intentional obstruction of aid access to the region.
