Iran Reasserts Commitment to Syrian Peace Efforts, Says Ambassador
Iran has reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to supporting Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity, strongly opposing any efforts to impose external agendas or divide the nation.

Iran’s representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, conveyed apprehensions during a Security Council session focused on Syria, criticizing initiatives that promote the idea of Syria’s federalization.
He observed that these ambitions might intensify fragmentation and potentially reignite conflict within the nation.
Iran has expressed its ongoing commitment to assisting the Syrian population in their quest for peace, stability, reconstruction, and national reconciliation, fully respecting the desires of the Syrian people, according to statements made by Iravani.
He highlighted that enduring peace and stability in Syria can only be realized through a political process that is led by Syrians and free of external influence and pressure.
He emphasized the necessity for the process to genuinely include all communities, stating that the exclusion of key groups could exacerbate grievances, undermine legitimacy, and potentially destabilize an already fragile situation.
The official emphasized the necessity of ensuring the protection of the legitimate rights and aspirations of all Syrian people while maintaining the sovereignty, independence, unity, and national institutions of Syria. He further expressed support for the recent diplomatic efforts undertaken by the Special Envoy with Syrian officials in Damascus regarding an inclusive political transition.
Iravani emphasized the necessity for the UN Security Council to address and not ignore the continued destabilizing and aggressive activities carried out by the Israeli regime in Syria.
He criticized Israel’s aggressive actions against Syria, describing them as clear breaches of international law and violations of the UN Charter.
Iran stressed the necessity for the cessation of all foreign occupations, condemning what it refers to as Israeli acts of aggression. These acts, highlighted by repeated airstrikes on Syrian soil, are characterized as blatant breaches of international law and the United Nations Charter. The council, Iravani asserted, has a duty to address these violations actively.
Israel has launched multiple aggressive operations across Syrian territory after the fall of former President Bashar al-Assad’s government last year.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has directed his military forces to advance further into Syrian territory and capture several key strategic positions.
Israel has intensified its military activities in southwest Syria by launching numerous airstrikes targeting the regime led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in an effort to diminish Damascus’s military capabilities.
Israeli forces have reportedly established a presence at no fewer than nine strategic positions deep within southern Syria, predominantly situated within the United Nations-monitored buffer zone. This move is officially justified as a measure to counter Takfiri threats. Nonetheless, the deployment is being viewed by some as part of a wider agenda of territorial expansion, achieved through both military activities and the advancement of settler initiatives.
