Iran’s Top General Emphasizes Defense Strength as Key Shield Against Threats
A high-ranking Iranian military official has emphasized the necessity of continually bolstering defense capabilities and deterrence measures as the sole means of safeguarding the nation from external threats.
Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, conveyed his remarks in a message to Defense Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh on Thursday in commemoration of National Defense Industry Day.
He highlighted the “remarkable and honorable achievements” of Iran’s defense industry in recent years, showcasing elements during the sacred resistance against Israeli-US aggression. These achievements reportedly mirror the nation’s self-confidence, steadfast faith, and dependence on indigenous capabilities.
In a recent statement, Mousavi emphasized the significant influence of regional and global developments, alongside lessons from a recent conflict, highlighting the necessity for sustained defense enhancements. He underscored that ensuring national security against current and future threats requires a steadfast strategy of bolstering defense capabilities, improving deterrence measures, and modernizing military systems, equipment, and weaponry through advanced knowledge and technology.
He also praised the contributions of Nasirzadeh and his team in strengthening the defense capabilities of the Islamic Republic and extended his best wishes for their continued success.
Iran has positioned itself as a pivotal center of deterrence in the region.
On Thursday, the Iranian Defense Ministry issued a statement in observance of National Defense Industry Day.
Reports highlight that Iran’s strategy in crafting and manufacturing an array of weapons and military equipment specifically suited to its defense requirements has transitioned the nation from reliance on external forces to achieving notable self-sufficiency and resilience. This development has transformed Iran into “a regional cornerstone of defensive capability and deterrence.”
Iran’s formidable missile capabilities, showcased during recent retaliatory counterstrikes, have served as a stark warning to adversaries, highlighting the severe repercussions they would face in the event of any regional adventurism or miscalculation, according to statements released.
On June 13, Israel initiated a direct and unprovoked assault on Iran, leading to a 12-day conflict that resulted in the deaths of at least 1,064 individuals, including military leaders, nuclear scientists, and everyday citizens.
The United States has engaged in military action by launching airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, an act widely regarded as a serious breach of international law.
In retaliation, the Iranian Armed Forces launched strikes against strategic locations throughout the occupied territories, including the al-Udeid air base in Qatar, which serves as the largest American military installation in West Asia.
On June 24, Iran effectively executed retaliatory measures against both Israel and the United States, successfully bringing an end to the unauthorized offensive.
