A so-called monitoring group says nearly 900 civilians have lost their lives ever since the US-led coalition purportedly fighting the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group launched its aerial bombardment campaign in the conflict-plagued Arab country over two year ago.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Thursday that as many as 876 civilians, including 339 children and women, have been killed in the air raids.

There were 209 people under the age of 18 among the fatalities in addition to 130 female victims.

The monitoring group noted that the civilians were killed by US-led warplanes in Syria’s northern province of Raqqah, northeastern province of Hasakah, northwestern Aleppo and Idlib provinces as well as Dayr al-Zawr province in the country’s east.

The city of Raqqah, on the northern bank of the Euphrates River, was overrun by Takfiri terrorists in March 2013, and was proclaimed the center for most of the terrorists’ administrative and control tasks the next year.

On February 17, nine people were killed and several others injured when a US-led strike targeted Tishrin farmland, which lies approximately 20 kilometers west of Raqqah.

Additionally, a woman and her child were killed as US-led military aircraft struck an area in the city of Thawrah, also known as Tabqah and situated approximately 55 kilometers west of Raqqah.

At least eight civilians lost their lives on January 6, when coalition fighter jets pounded the village of Suwaydiyah al-Kabirah, which is situated approximately 55 kilometers west of Raqqah.

The US-led coalition has been conducting airstrikes against what are said to be the Daesh terrorists inside Syria since September 2014 without any authorization from the Damascus government or a UN mandate.

The coalition has repeatedly been accused of targeting and killing civilians. It has also been largely incapable of fulfilling its declared aim of destroying Daesh.
