Inhuman zionist authorities are refusing to comment on reports that tenders have been issued to a number of companies to construct a massive concrete wall, which is tens of meters deep and will extend below the ground along the Gaza Strip.

According to a report on the Ynet news website Wednesday, the Israeli ministry of military affairs has submitted the tenders to 20 Israeli companies. The work on the project is set to start in October 2016.

The first part of the underground barrier, which will have above-ground sections as well, will run for 10 kilometers (6.2 miles).

Israel plans to extend the barrier around 60 kilometers along the Gaza Strip and thus completely encircle the Palestinian coastal land.

Because of the complexity of the project worth more than $522 million, Israeli companies have to seek assistance from international corporations specialized in building underground walls.

Several foreign companies have reportedly refused to play a role in the project, citing political sensitivities.

The Gaza Strip has been blockaded since 2007, a situation that has caused a decline in the standards of living, unprecedented levels of unemployment, and unrelenting poverty.

The siege denies about 1.8 million people in Gaza their basic rights, such as freedom of movement, proper job, and adequate healthcare and education.

Egypt is contributing to the Israeli siege by refusing passage to Gazans through the only crossing that by-passes Israel, namely the Rafah border crossing.

The Egyptian government has also been destroying or flooding the underground tunnels that Gazans have dug to bring in much-needed foodstuff and construction material.
