Syrian Army strikes jihadist rebels in east Daraa

For the first time in several weeks, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has attacked the jihadist rebel defenses inside the Al-Lijat region of east Dara’a, the 5th Armored Division reported this morning.

According to their report, the Syrian Army heavily shelled the defenses of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham in the Al-Lijat region.

Furthermore, the Syrian Army’s attack was meant to fracture the front-lines of the jihadist rebels before they launch their long-awaited offensive in southern Syria.

The Syrian Army has already mobilized thousands of soldiers to participate in the upcoming southern Syria offensive; however, the majority of these troops have deployed to the Al-Quneitra Governorate and Sheikh Miskeen area of Dara’a.

This long-awaited offensive is expected to begin in the coming days, despite ongoing talks between the U.S., Russia, and Jordan.
