Syrian Army Liberates Another Village in As-Suweida from ISIS

Soldiers from the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Armored Division – in conjunction with the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Jaysh Al-Muwahiddeen (Durzi Army) – carried out a fierce assault on the militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) at the village of Al-Qasr in the As-Suweida Governorate, killing 16 enemy combatants before asserting control over the area.

At 1:30 P.M. (Damascus Time) on Wednesday afternoon, the SAA and their allies launched a counter-assault on the militants from ISIS after the latter killed six civilians at the town of Al-Haqaf on Monday night; this vast, desolate region in northeast As-Suweida was been declared under ISIS control in early 2015 after their combatants infiltrated into this province from the deserts of the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

In regards to the killing of six civilians at Al-Haqaf on Monday, the Syrian state news agency, SANA News, reported the following:

“Groups of ISIS terrorists attempted after Monday midnight to block the road between al-Haqaf and al-Bouthaineh villages, located in the northeastern countryside of the southern province, and attacked the residents, killing six people, including a woman, a source in the province told SANA.”

Firefights are still ongoing between the Syrian Armed Forces and ISIS at the southwestern axis of Al-Haqaf, where the former is attempting to recapture this town; however, there have been no reports of any map changes as a result of the intense clashes between the two parties.
