Syria: Surrendered Militants in Darayya Admit Dependence on Foreign States

“More militants in Darayya are ready to turn themselves in to Syrian authorities. Militants in Darayya have been following the policies dictated by the regional and western powers, but they are now exhausted,” sources close to the militant groups disclosed on Saturday.

Army sources said earlier today that hundreds of terrorists have laid down arms and surrendered to government authorities in the city of Darayya in Western Ghouta and hundreds more are being evacuated to terrorist-held regions, meaning that terrorists’ rule over the city and its surroundings has ended after four years of occupation.

“The Syrian army troops are collecting arms of the militants who turned themselves in to the government forces, and the other units of the army have paved way for evacuation of 5,000-8,000 family-members of the militants of Liwa Shohada al-Islam and Liwa Shohada Kafr Souseh from Darayya,” the sources said.

“Darayya is under the complete siege of the Fourth division of the Syrian army,” the sources said, adding, “a group of militants’ families has left the city already.”

“500 family members of militants have been transferred to Damascus countryside and around 300 militants were sent to Idlib province,” the sources said.

“Militants have only four days to leave Darayya. They are not allowed to take with them precious things, money and gold, but they can take their own guns,” the sources added.

On Friday, the militant groups inside Darayya formally agreed to surrender the town after negotiating with a Syrian government delegation for nearly 48 hours.

Under the terms of surrender, the Syrian government agreed to transport the remaining militants from Liwa Shohada al-Islam and civilians to their requested destinations.

Darayya’s civilians would be transferred to the opposition-held Qudsiya District, which is located just West of Damascus city.

The government agreed to provide those civilians humanitarian aid and medical assistance, this would be administrated by UN groups.

The militants would be transported by government buses to Jeish al-Fatah’s frontlines in Idlib province.

In return, the militant groups would surrender the territory they control in Darayya to the Syrian government.
