Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Repels ISIL’s Attack on Gov’t Positions in Homs

The Syrian army soldiers repelled terrorists’ attack on their positions in Homs province after hours of clashes, inflicting major losses on them.

The ISIL terrorists’ attack to capture the government forces’ positions in the Eastern part of Homs was fended off by the strong defense of the Syrian military men.

Meantime, the Syrian army and popular forces continued their military advances in other parts of Syria, including Hama and Hama, over the past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in other provinces across Syria.

Homs

The Syrian Army troops engaged in hours of clashes with the ISIL in Eastern Homs and repelled their attack, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

The army units engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL terrorists that tried to prevail over the pro-government forces’ positions in Tafheh hills and managed to ward off their offensive, killing and wounding a number of them and destroying their military equipment.

The army men also seized two military vehicles and a large volume of ISIL’s arms and ammunition in the clashes.

In the meantime, the army units continued their advances against ISIL in Eastern Homs and recaptured the hills overlooking Northeast of the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur).

Hama

The Syrian Army troops continued their anti-ISIL operation in the Eastern direction of the town of al-Salamiyah and took control over two more regions, killing at least 60 terrorists.

The army men that drove ISIL out of Regions of 3, 4, 5 and 6 East of al-Salamiyah earlier today continued to hit terrorists and recapture the regions 7 and 8 after killing more than 60 terrorists.

The army soldiers are now advancing towards Region 9.

An army officer said that a large number of ISIL terrorists have fled towards the depth of Badiyeh (desert) as their front in Eastern Hama is on the verge on collapse.

Also, the army forces, supported by Russian and Syrian Air Force airstrikes, inflicted decisive blows on ISIL terrorists in the Eastern part of Salamiyah as the military operation to expel terrorists from Hama province is underway.

The Syrian army’s missile and artillery units heavily pounded the positions and supply routes of ISIL in Eastern Salamiyah which resulted in the destruction of three military bases and death of a number of terrorists.

The Syrian and Russian air forces also struck tens of ISIL positions East of Salamiyah, inflicting heavy losses on the ISIL terrorists.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army troops, backed up by the country’s Air Force, repelled ISIL’s massive attacks in the Southern outskirts of Deir Ezzur city for the third day in a row, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

The army soldiers engaged in heavy fighting with ISIL at Panorama base, near regiment 137 base and al-Maqaber (cemetery) region and fended off the terrorists’ offensives.

Local sources reported that fierce clashes are underway between the terrorists and army men in the hills of Syriatel and Um Aboud.

In the meantime, the army’s artillery and missile units shelled heavily ISIL’s positions and movements in the village of al-Baqaliyeh, Wadi (desert) al-Thardah, around Tal (hill) al-Sonouf, al-Tayem crossroad, Panorama farms, al-Makbat region, Tal al-Rasad, al-Azm region, al-Iman region, al-Tayem school and the al-Ma’ahad al-Taqni.

A military source reported that tens of ISIL terrorists, including several foreign members, were killed and their military hardware were destroyed in the attacks.

The source went on to say that ISIL used a large number of its forces that had recently retreated from Raqqa and Iraq and intended to separate regiment 137 base from the Deir Ezzur’s Western neighborhood via taking control over the hills of al-Sonouf, Syriatel and Um Aboud but failed to prevail over the government forces’ positions.

Aleppo

The Syrian Army troops continued their advances against the ISIL along a key road connecting Aleppo city to the town of Khanasser, killing over 150 terrorists, Arab media reported.

The Syrian al-Watan daily reported that the army men engaged in another tough battle with the ISIL along the Aleppo-Khanasser road form Sheikh Hilal direction and managed to retake control over the Shahd 8, 9 and 10 hills and the village of al-Yatmeh South of al-Majbal region and restored security to Aleppo-Khanasser road.

The sources further added that over 150 terrorists were killed and tens of others were wounded in the attack.

In the meantime, the Russian and Syrian fighter jets targeted a convoy of ISIL’s vehicles on the road to the village of Qalib al-Thowar, destroying it completely.

An army officer said on Monday that the army moved towards Raqqa borders to start a new round of battle against terrorists after kicking ISIL out of its last stronghold in Eastern Aleppo.

The officer, who asked to remain unnamed, said that after the army troops captured the key town of Maskana, they continued their advances against ISIL and seized control over the villages of sixth farm, Khirbet al-Anz, al-Makhzoum, al-Morteza, Aziza al-Haj Saleh and al-Qeramateh.

He went on to say that the army soldiers, backed up by the Russian warplanes, continued to advance against ISIL in the East-most frontiers of Aleppo and deployed on the South-Western bank of the Euphrates River and also the highway between Maskana and Eastern Syria only a few hundred meters away from Aleppo’s border with Raqqa province.

Raqqa

The Syrian Army troops continued to drive the ISIL terrorists out of more villages and towns in Eastern Aleppo, inching closer to the province’s border with Raqqa that is home to ISIL’s self-proclaimed capital of Caliphate.

The army troops that liberated the town of Maskana, the last bastion of ISIL in Aleppo province on Sunday, continued to cleanse the strategic region and managed to take control over the villages and towns of Moshrefeh Kabireh, al-Joweim, Rasm Faleh Saqir, Rasm Faleh Kabir and Falalilh after some short sporadic clashes with the remaining pockets of ISIL in the region.

Military sources said that the army soldiers are advancing towards ISIL-regions in the neighboring province of Raqqa.
