Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Regains Control of More Areas in Homs

The Syrian army continued its advances in Homs, and captured more strategic regions in the Southern parts of the province.

The army units drove the ISIL terrorists out of key areas and their surrounding areas in Eastern Homs.

The Syrian troops inflicted heavy losses on the terrorists in fierce clashes over controlling of strategic regions. They also destroyed military equipment of the terrorists.

The Syrian army also continued its advances in other key provinces across Syria.

Homs

The Syrian Army troops continued their advances in Eastern Homs and drove ISIL out of another strategic region in Palmyra Eastern Badiyeh (desert).

The army soldiers, backed up by the country’s Air Force, stormed ISIL’s defense lines in Palmyra’s Eastern Badiyeh and managed to take control over the protected region of al-Talileh.

Reports said that hundreds of soldiers that were deployed in de-escalation zones have now arrived in Homs to intensify military operations against ISIL.

Aleppo

The Syrian Army troops warded off ISIL’s large-scale attack to recapture the newly-liberated Jarah military airport in Eastern Aleppo, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

Hundreds of ISIL terrorists deployed in Maskana region launched a large-scale operation to retake control over Jarah airbase liberated by the army soldiers on Saturday.

A military source said that after hours of fierce clashes in the region and in the villages of Jarah Kabireh and Jarah Saqireh the army men repelled ISIL’s attack.

The terrorists sustained a number of casualties in the failed attack.

The source said that ISIL’s defense lines have collapsed after liberation of the Jarah airbase by the army.

Deir Ezzur

Military sources disclosed that the Syrian Army troops are getting ready to launch a fresh round of large-scale attacks on ISIL’s defense lines in the Eastern province of Deir Ezzur with the arrival of tens of soldiers from de-escalation zones.

The sources said that almost 500 reinforcements that left their positions after implementation of de-escalation zones agreement have arrived in Deir Ezzur province to join the army units to kick off a fresh round of operation to lift the siege on Deir Ezzur city and airbase.

The sources further added that after sending hundreds of fresh forces to Eastern Homs and the army’s large-scale operation in the region, the pro-government forces’ advances towards Deir Ezzur will continue and meantime the army soldiers deployed in Deir Ezzur will continue their operation to end ISIL’s presence in both provinces.

Meantime, a sum of 12 civilians were killed and several more were wounded in the US-led collation air raids on two regions in Raqqa and Deir Ezzur provinces, well-informed sources said.

The sources said that the US-led coalition fighter jets bombed heavily several regions in areas surrounding Raqqa city in Northeastern Syria, killing 7 member of a family.

Media activists, meantime, reported that the coalition warplanes targeted the town of al-Qouriyeh in Eastern Deir Ezzur, killing five civilians and wounding several more.

In relevant development in the province on Wednesday, the US-led collation fighter jets bombed heavily a village in Northern Raqqa, killing 10 civilians and wounding 20 more, local sources confirmed.

The sources said that 10 civilians were killed and 20 more were injured in coalition air raids in the village of al-Salehiyeh, adding that the attack inflicted major damage on people’s properties too.

Damascus

ISIL terrorists stormed the positions of Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at (the Levant Liberation Board whose members are mainly from the Al-Nusra) in the Yarmouk Palestinian Refugees Camp, escalating fierce clashes among the two rival terrorist groups, a local source said Sunday.

The source who requested anonymity said that the ISIL terrorists who were driven by their anger at Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at’s agreement with the Syrian Army to evacuate the Yarmouk camp launched a large-scale attack on Tahrir al-Sham’s positions.

The source added that clashes inflicted several casualties on both warring sides.

Arab media outlets reported last week that hundreds of Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at militants left the Yarmouk camp left Damascus province along with their family members for Idlib.

The Arabic-language Al-Hadath news reported that hundreds of militants and their family members moved towards Idlib province in Northwestern Syria in line with an evacuation deal concluded between the Syrian Army and the gunmen.

The report said with the withdrawal of Tahrir al-Sham from their positions in areas that stretch from Habib Mostafa Grand Mosque to al-Wasim Grand Mosque, the army and Palestinian groups would come in charge.

Al-Hadath news said that evacuation of the remaining pockets of the terrorists would be completed in coming days and members of Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at would leave Yarmouk completely.

The deal would not cover ISIL and its allies groups, stressed the report.

Raqqa

The Predominately Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) continued their advances against ISIL in the fourth phase of the Euphrates Rage Operation and managed to take control over three more villages North of Raqqa city.

The SDF fighters continued to hit hard ISIL’s defense lines and drove the terrorists out of the villages of al-Atshaneh, al-Ma’az and Malali.

ISIL suffered tens of casualties and its military hardware sustained major damage in the clashes.

An informed source confirmed earlier on Sunday that SDF fighters are to hand over the newly-seized Euphrates dam North of al-Tabaqa city to the Syrian government.

A Syrian-Kurdish command source pointed out that the SDF fighters that took control of the Euphrates dam and al-Tabaqa city in a an anti-ISIL operation codenamed the Euphrates Rage a couple of days ago, have agreed to hand over the dam to the government officials.

In the meantime, the Operation Room of the Euphrates Rage announced in a statement that after restoring full security to al-Tabaqa city and cleansing it from bombs and landmine planted by the ISIL, management of the city will be handed over to City Council and the city’s internal security forces.
