Syria army strikes militants hard

356983_Syrian-troopsSyrian forces have carried out new operations across the country against militants, inflicting heavy losses on them.

During Wednesday operations, army units targeted militant staging locations in the villages of al-Qantara, Beit Shrouq and Jabal al-Kouz in the northern suburbs of Lattakia near the Turkish border, killing and injuring scores of armed militants and destroying their weapons, SANA reported.

According to the report, government troops further mounted special operations on militant forces tied to the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front in areas on the outskirts of Damascus including Jobar, Douma, eastern Ghouta, Daraya, Zabadani and al-Qalamoun.

During the operations, militant strongholds near the Great Mosque in Jobar and the Aliya farms in Douma were hit hard.

It was discovered following the operations that a number of militants in the area were non-Syrians.

Moreover, another army unit clashed with militants to the east of the police hospital in Harasta, killing several of them and destroying their military hardware.

Meanwhile, Syrian forces attacked another intruding militant group in Tesil area on the outskirts of Daraa, eliminating its entire members, including their ring leader.

In another operation in Allajat, al-Samaqiyat farms and Etman, all suburbs of the city of Qunitera, Syrian troops destroyed a number of militant vehicles equipped with heavy machineguns.

In the same region, army units thwarted an infiltration attempt by an armed militant group in al-Dawayeh al-Soghra village, destroying a rocket launcher and other weaponry in the process.

According to some reports, an estimated 140,000 people have been killed in the turmoil in Syria and millions of others have been displaced due to the violence.
