Syria army inflicts heavy losses on militants

Syrian army troops have inflicted heavy losses on foreign-backed militants in operations across the country, military sources say.

According to the sources, the army forces killed a number of militants and destroyed their equipment in the city of Aleppo and several nearby towns and villages on Monday.

In the city of Dara’a, army units targeted militants’ positions in al-Samadaniyeh and al-Gharbiyeh.

Army forces also made advances against militants in the countryside of the capital Damascus as well as a number of areas in Homs.

In the Golan Heights region, Syrian soldiers cut off the militants’ supply line connecting Jordan and Syria’s Quneitra crossing.

The army is also attempting to cut the terrorists’ other supply lines running from Jordan to Syria.

Syrian army forces have created new defense lines in the al-Yarmouk and al-Basel suburbs of Dara’a in order to repel militant attacks.

Over the past months, the Syrian army has made major gains in its battle against Takfiri groups across the country.

Syria has been gripped by deadly violence since 2011, with ISIL Takfiri terrorists currently controlling parts of it in the east.

More than 191,000 people have been killed in over three years of fighting in the war-ravaged country, says the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), calling the figure a probable “underestimate of the real total number of people killed.”
