Harsh winter seems to be taking a toll on desperate Syrian refugees in Lebanon. Four Syrian refugees, including two children, have already died from the cold. Many children at the camp didn’t have proper clothing to keep them warm.

Syrian refugees in Lebanon live in makeshift tents and lack fuel for their stoves. Their tents are not waterproof, causing their tents to leak water or snow.

The United Nations has declared that Syrians have surpassed Afghans as the second-largest refugee population after Palestinians, fleeing to over 100 countries to escape the foreign-backed war in their country.

As of mid-2014, said a UN report on Wednesday, more than three million Syrian refugees have been registered, accounting for nearly one-fourth of 13 million refugees across the globe. Lamees Karout reports from Beirut.
