Netizens reaffirm support for Palestine after Iran Leader’s letter to US students

The #RightSideOfHistory hashtag has been trending in Iran after Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei sent a letter to students in US universities protesting against the Israeli war on Gaza.

In his letter, Ayatollah Khamenei told protesting students in universities and colleges across the United States that “you stand on the right side of history” in defending Palestinians and demanding an end to Israel’s genocidal war in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Protesting students demand, among others, a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, an end to US military assistance to the apartheid regime, and university divestment from companies profiting from the brutal aggression.

Following the letter, the #RightSideOfHistory hashtag has been trending on X in Iran.

Below are just a number of such tweets with this hashtag:

Hundreds of students and professors have been suspended or fired for taking part in these popular demonstrations but they have refused to be cowed down or bullied into submission.

Israel launched a brutal genocide against the defenseless people of Gaza, the majority of which are women and children, following Palestinian resistance groups’ retaliatory operation on October 7.

Israel has also been enforcing a near-total siege on the coastal territory, which has reduced the flow of foodstuffs, medicine, electricity, and water into the Palestinian territory into a trickle.

The regime has killed over 36,200 people, most of them women, children, and adolescents in Gaza since that October day.
