Israeli occupation forces detain two in overnight incursion into western Daraa

Israeli occupation forces detained two people during an overnight incursion into Maariya village in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Daraa countryside, local sources said Friday.

The sources told SANA that 12 Israeli military vehicles entered the village via the northern road known locally as the “Valley Road” and moved into several residential neighborhoods.

Israeli occupation forces raided and searched several homes and detained two village residents, the sources said. One was later released, while the whereabouts of the other remain unknown.

Israel has continued to violate the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through repeated incursions into southern Syria, raids on civilian homes, arrests, land-clearing operations and shelling.

Syria has repeatedly demanded the withdrawal of Israeli forces from its territory. It stresses that measures taken by Israel are null and void and have no legal effect under international law.

Syria has urged the international community to fulfill its responsibilities and press for Israel’s full withdrawal from southern Syria.
