The airstrike was one of at least eight bombings by Iraqi aircraft that targeted ISIS positions and bases inside Syria on Thursday afternoon following approval by Damascus for such operations to take place.

It is still not entirely clear whether the shown airstrike took place in the province of Deir Ezzor or the province of Hasakah given that Iraqi warplanes reportedly hit targets in both east Syrian regions.

It is believed that the Iraqi Air Force will continue to strike ISIS targets in Syria has part of a new operation to prevent or at least severely undermine the terrorist group’s ability to launch cross-border incursions.
