Military commanders in Iraq said the ISIL terrorists have sustained heavy casualties and losses in different fronts of Nineveh province and the lines of defense have collapsed in 11 fronts.

“Iraq’s joint military forces have hit hard the ISIL terrorists in 11 battlefronts in Nineveh province,” senior Iraqi volunteer forces (Hashd al-Shaabi) commander Javad al-Talibavi told FNA on Sunday.

He said that the swift collapse of the ISIL particularly in the Eastern and Southeastern parts of Mosul city has helped the Nineveh liberation operations to proceed sooner than planned.

The commander reiterated that the town of Bartala on the Eastern side of Mosul which was the ISIL’s most difficult defense shield fell in only five hours, while the streets of Bartala town were full of dead bodies of terrorists.

Earlier on Sunday, media reports said that Iraq’s joint military forces had seized back over 50 villages since the beginning of Mosul military operation six days ago.

“The Iraqi media managed to take full control of 53 villages after killing hundreds of ISIL terrorists,” the Arabic-language al-Sabah newspaper quoted an informed source as saying.

The Iraqi Army’s War Media Center announced that hundreds of ISIL terrorists have been killed in the first five days of the Mosul Liberation Operation.

“Over 473 ISIL terrorists have been killed in the Mosul liberation operation and 22 others have been captured by Friday night,” the center said.

It also announced that 95 bomb-laden vehicles and 16 machinegun-equipped military vehicles have also been destroyed.

An arms depot and 7 suicide belts have also been destroyed.

On Thursday, informed sources said that the Iraqi security and popular forces retook 14 villages in the Northern and Southern parts of Mosul from the ISIL control.

Iraqi sources said that the army and its allies seized back control of al-Khalediyeh, al-Salehiyeh and al-Khabat villages near al-Qayyara, Deiri, Samaqiyeh, Soqra, Kobra and Nahla villages near Sahl Neineva region, Sidaveh, al-Makouk, al-Manavir and Khanisat villages in Southern Mosul and Barima and al-Nouran villages in Northern Mosul.

They added that operations will continue until freedom of all regions in Mosul from the ISIL hand.

Meantime, reports said that the Iraqi army and volunteer forces have surrounded the center of al-Hamdaniyeh town in the Southeastern parts of Mosul.

Governor of Iraq’s Nineveh Province announced on Wednesday the Iraqi army and popular forces managed to liberate 40% of the province from ISIL terrorists and they met with little resistance by the terrorists while liberating the villages in the Nineveh Province.

“The arrival of Iraqi security forces to Mosul cheered up the citizens and displaced people,” the Governor of Nineveh, Nofal Hammadi said in a press statement.

“We are waiting for the full liberation of our province and the Iraqi flag to be raised on its center,” he noted.

“Iraqi security forces liberated 40% of Nineveh Province, and they met with little resistance by the ISIL members in the liberated villages due to their retreated morale,” Hammadi concluded.
