Iran FM hails South Africa’s firm support for Palestine, calls for joint efforts against Israel

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has hailed South Africa’s strong position in support of the innocent people of Palestine in the face of Israel’s deadly war on the Gaza Strip.

Both Iran and South Africa have taken firm positions against Israeli atrocities and expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people since the occupying regime waged the war on Gaza over two months ago.

In a Wednesday phone conversation with his South African counterpart, Grace Naledi Mandisa Pandor, Amir-Abdollahian praised the African nation’s “clear” and “firm” position on the subject.

He also highlighted the importance of joint efforts by the two countries to condemn Israel’s crimes and take practical measures aimed at ending the war and alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people.

The chief Iranian diplomat also expressed satisfaction with developing relations between the two countries.

Pandor, for her part, said Pretoria pursues a clear and transparent policy on the need to support the Palestinian people and put an end to the Tel Aviv regime’s atrocities.

She added that the South African government has submitted a written request to the International Court of Justice to probe into the crimes committed against the Palestinian people.
