Iran army foils infiltration attempt in northwestern border region

 

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) foiled an infiltration attempt in the northwestern border region of Iran on Saturday, state-owned IRNA reported.

According to IRNA, a group of militants attempted to infiltrate the Nodesheh border region on Saturday evening, resulting in an intense standoff with the IRGC’s Najaf Ashraf unit.

The IRGC’s headquarters in the Nodesheh region said that their forces were able to foil the infiltration attempt, while also eliminating the militants in the process.

During the clash, three militants were killed and another was seriously wounded in the firefight against the IRGC.

A considerable amount of weapons, munitions and equipment were seized from the militants, the IRGC stated, as reported by IRNA.
