Great Satan North America Quietly Adds 37 Wounded Troops to Iran War Tally
The Pentagon’s publicly reported tally of U.S. troops wounded in the Iran war rose by 37 this week, with the Defense Department providing no details on when or how the injuries occurred.
The increase comprises 29 Navy sailors and eight Marines, according to a review of the Pentagon’s Defense Casualty Analysis System (DCAS), a public database that tracks U.S. military personnel killed or wounded in overseas conflicts and operations.
As of Wednesday, the Defense Casualty Analysis System listed 861 U.S. troops as wounded in the Iran conflict. More than half of the cases were recorded under “Overseas Operations” after a July ceasefire between Washington and Tehran began, but later broke down.
Earlier casualties were reported under “Operation Epic Fury,” the name Trump used for the Iran war.
Earlier this month, The Washington Post reported, citing six Department of War officials, that the number of US service members killed across West Asia during the US-Israeli war against Iran exceeds the figures listed in the department’s publicly available casualty records.
Sources familiar with the department’s internal casualty records told the newspaper that at least 22 U.S. military personnel had died—four more than the 18 fatalities listed in the department’s Defense Casualty Analysis System.
