Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base commander has announced new plans on the agenda to bring changes and improvements into air defense in Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman.

Brig. Gen. Farzad Esmaili told reporters on Sunday that deployment of defensive systems in 3700 parts of the country had been achieved and that no particular bottleneck existed in radar and missile fields.

“The air system has provided flight security for passing airplanes which exceed 900 flights daily; flights passing through Iranian airspace and regional flights are monitored using integrated air defense systems and in case an aircraft intends to get closer to the country’s borders, we will send necessary warnings to them,” said the commander.

Esmaili also added that most flights passed through Isfahan’s airspace, and that the central defense zone located in Isfahan “is responsible for protecting UCF nuclear sites in Natanz and those in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari and Yazd provinces.”
