8th European al-Wafaa aid convoy arrives in Syria

20140324-144612_h534977 The 8th humanitarian aid convoy sent by European al-Wafaa campaign arrived on Monday at Jdaidet Yabous crossing point on the Syrian-Lebanese borders, carrying with 80 tons of aid.

The convoy, accompanied by 29 civil society representatives from eight European countries and Malaysia, also brought four ambulances.

President of the campaign Amin Abu Rashed told SANA the convoy brings relief supplies to alleviate the suffering of families affected by terrorism in Syria, both Syrians and Palestinians, and that the supplies will be distributed under the supervision of the 29 representatives accompanying the convoy.

He asserted that the campaign will keep sending similar convoys until the crisis is over and security and stability are restored to Syria.

Director of Social Services at the Social Affairs Ministry Firas Nabhan said his ministry, in cooperation with the Higher Committee for Relief and al-Wafaa campaign, will receive 80 tons of food which will be distributed among displaced families in several areas, along with the four ambulances.

The seventh humanitarian aid convoy, consisting of 18 trucks carrying heaters, winter blankets, and food, arrived on the 3rd of last February.
