On Friday morning, the Yarmouk Camp District of the Rif Dimashq Governorate exploded in violence between factions from the Al-Nusra Front (Jabhat Al-Nusra) and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC) on 30th Street, following the execution of a civilian committed by the former.

The firefights engulfed the district with a barrage of gunfire and artillery shells that rained hell on the already dilapidated buildings in the Yarmouk Camp. According to a source in nearby Yalda, clashes are still ongoing inside the district, with a number explosions still heard from neighboring villages.

Up to 20 members of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) have been assassinated by the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) in the Qalamoun Mountains of the Rif Dimashq Governorate. Tension between the rebel factions began earlier this week, when ISIS leaders in the Qalamoun Mountains demanded that the FSA militias give bay’ah (sale of oneself to a spiritual leader; commitment) to the self-proclaimed “Caliph” Sheikh Ibrahim Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi.

In the Jobar District, the Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard advanced 2 building blocks after a large Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam) contingent retreated west of the Jobar Industrial School. The 105th Brigade is still in control of 85% of the Jobar District, as firefights intensify near the city-center.
