Syria’s Grand Mufti Slams Arab League for Blind Obedience to West

“The Arab foreign ministers are lost and do not recognize the interests of the Arab ministers and the Arab world,” Hassoun told FNA on Monday.
The AL foreign ministers in their Sunday meeting issued a statement in which they made no reference to the brutal massacre of the Syrian people by the terrorist group and merely called for forming a transitional government in Syria.
“The Arab foreign ministers do not know beside whom they are standing, they are perplexed and just implementing the orders of the West and opposition coalition,” he said.
Hassoun expressed the hope that the Arab foreign ministers could eventually come to realize that the Syrian nation can decide its own fate and its future president.
The conflict in Syria started in March 2011, when sporadic pro-reform protests turned into a massive insurgency following the intervention of western and regional states.
The unrest, which took in terrorist groups from across Europe, the Middle-East and North Africa, has transpired as one of the bloodiest conflicts in recent history.
As the foreign-backed insurgency in Syria continues without an end in sight, the US government has boosted its political and military support to Takfiri extremists.
Washington has remained indifferent to warnings by Russia and other world powers about the consequences of arming militant groups.
