A military source told SANA that the Syrian soldiers foiled attempts made by the insurgents to infiltrate into the international highway from al-Mahja town in Daraa countryside, killing all antigovernment fighters.
The source added that other units of army repelled militants attacks in al-Kasara area in Samlin town and in Janin village to the south of Khabab town in the province, killing a number of the insurgents and destroying a large convoy of weapons and ammunition there.
The source went on to say that Abu Ahmad al-kherbawi was identified among the dead terrorists on al-Hrak-Namer road.
The source said, in Daraa’s al-Balad, Syrian forces targeted rebels’ dens in Mokhayam al-Nazihin, al-Kark and the Irrigation Canal areas, killing so many fighters and injuring others.
The conflict in Syria started in March 2011, when sporadic pro-reform protests turned into a massive insurgency following the intervention of western and regional states.
The unrest, which took in terrorist groups from across Europe, the Middle-East and North Africa, has transpired as one of the bloodiest conflicts in recent history.
As the foreign-backed insurgency in Syria continues without an end in sight, the US government has boosted its political and military support to Takfiri extremists.
Washington has remained indifferent to warnings by Russia and other world powers about the consequences of arming militant groups.
