Syrian Kurds Recapture Third of Kobani Villages from Daesh

Syrian Kurds have taken back one-third of the villages in Kobani Sunday after months of occupation by ISIS (Daesh), according to AFP.
Forces began routing Daesh two weeks ago and since then have made progress on the fight against the terrorists, AFP reported. After four months of fighting, the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), along with coalition air strikes, recaptured Kobani late January.
Rami Abdel Rahman, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights director, said the Kurds recaptured 128 of about 350 villages in the area. Rahman told AFP that Daesh “wants to try to protect areas under its control in Aleppo province. But the Kurds are steadily advancing.”
The US-led coalition has been launching airstrikes against Daesh since September.
