The Syrian fighter jets carried out tens of combat flights over ISIL’s defense lines and movements in Eastern Hama to pave the ground for an imminent large-scale operation of the ground forces in the region, military sources said Monday.

The sources said that after the creation of the de-escalation zones in different parts of Syria, including in Northern Hama, the army troops have focused on reinvigorating the pro-government front in the Eastern part of the province to take back ISIL-ruled lands.

The sources further added that the Syrian and Russian jets pounded the strongholds of the ISIL group in Aqayrabat in Eastern Hama as the Syrian soldiers are preparing to start a special operation in the region to drive the ISIL out of Eastern Hama.

According to earlier reports, the fresh troops of the Syrian army were dispatched to Eastern Hama for this large-scale operation.

A military source, meantime, said that the army operation for the liberation of Aqayrabat, the most important and strategic bastion of ISIL in Eastern Hama, will soon start.

Military sources disclosed on Friday that the Syrian army Special Forces and the Russian marines were getting ready to carry out a large-scale joint operation in Hama province to hit ISIL’s defense lines East of the town of al-Salamiyah.

The sources said that the Syrian Army’s elite 4th Mechanized Division was preparing to start its military operation to liberate the Eastern countryside of al-Salamiyah, which had been under the ISIL control for more than two years.
