Syrian army makes fresh gains against foreign-backed terrorists

Syrian army troops have continued their military operations against foreign-backed terrorists to flush them out in the northwestern province of Idlib.

Syrian soldiers backed by National Defense Forces raided the terrorists’ bases in the village of Foa near their stronghold of Binnish in Idlib countryside on Friday.

A number of terrorists were killed and many more wounded by the government forces, and a building used by the terrorists as their headquarters was destroyed.

Meanwhile, the militants fired several mortar shells at the al-Na’ora residential area in Idlib. The Syrian army said the mortars, fired from the city’s northern outskirts, left no casualties.

Over the past months, Syrian soldiers have made numerous gains in the battle against the foreign-sponsored militants, inflicting heavy losses on them in several areas.

Syria has been grappling with a deadly conflict since March 2011. The violence fueled by Takfiri groups has so far claimed the lives of over 200,000 people, according to reports.

Some 6.5 million Syrians have also become internally displaced due to the ongoing Syrian crisis, according to the UN.
