Syrian Army Drives ISIL out of More Key Positions in Southern Damascus Province

The Syrian Army continued to advance against ISIL in Yarmouk Refugee Camp and pushed the terrorists back from more positions in the Southern part of Damascus province on Sunday.

The army men stormed ISIL positions Northwest of the Yarmouk Camp and captured several key buildings.

The army also gained fire control over the Eastern side of the main street in Yarmouk Camp and drove a wedge between Shohada crossroad and Yarmouk.

Also, fierce clashes have been reported between the army men and terrorists in the Palestine street in Yarmouk.

In the meantime, the army’s artillery and missile units and aircraft pounded terrorists’ strongholds and movement in Hajar al-Aswad region and areas around the Yarmouk Camp, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

Meanwhile, field sources pointed to the street battle between the army men and the terrorists that have mainly taken cover in buildings and tunnels and added that the army’s advance has slowed down.

Reports said earlier today that the army troops advanced more in the depth of Hajar al-Aswad region, and are now one step away from imposing control over entire ISIL-held regions in the Southern part of Damascus province.

The army men, backed up by missile and artillery units, engaged in another tough battle with the ISIL in the depth of Hajar al-Aswad region, seizing control over Municipality Building and Police Station.

Also, a field source said that domino of collapse of the terrorist groups has been completed as the army has taken control of vital points deep in Hajar al-Aswad region.

The source further said that fierce clashes are now underway between the army and the remaining pockets of ISIL terrorists, adding that the government forces are now completing the siege around the buildings that are still under terrorists’ control.

The source went on to say that other units of the army have started mop-up operation in the newly-freed regions in the Southern part of Hajar al-Aswad, discovering several tunnels and trenches of the militant groups.
