The Syrian Army has sent a large number of fresh soldiers to the Southwestern province of Quneitra near the border with Israel to reinvigorate its combat capabilities to launch an imminent operation there, military sources said Friday.

“A large contingent of the fourth mechanized divisions, comprised of recent graduates from the Syrian Arab Army’s Special Forces school in Deir Attiyah, have joined the 90th Brigade’s headquarters in Golan Heights, where they will await orders to launch a large-scale offensive,” the sources said.

“The Syrian army soldiers, in their upcoming operation, are to capture the key terrorist-controlled town of Jabata al-Khashab, which has been under the control of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Fatah Al-Sham (the newly formed al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group previously known as the al-Nusra Front) for over two years.

Last week, Syrian Army soldiers and popular forces repelled the large-scale offensive of Fatah al-Sham in the Southwestern province of Quneitra, pushing them back from the battlefield under heavy fire.

Syrian government forces defended strongly their positions against Fatah al-Sham’s heavy attacks and did not allow them to advance in the battlefields.

Fatah al-Sham left behind tens of dead or wounded members and pulled the remaining pockets of its forces back from the battlefield.
