The Syrian Marines, backed by the Desert Hawks Brigade (Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra) and National Defense Forces (NDF), reportedly captured Qal’at Tubal in the northern Latakia countryside on Saturday after renewing their offensive at the imperative town of Kinsibba.

Qal’at Tubal is situated at the southern axis of Kinsibba, which is currently under the control of the jihadist rebels.

The capture of Qal’at Tubal gives the Syrian Armed Forces the high ground near Kinsibba; however, they will still need to seize the other hilltops surrounding the aforementioned town before they can fortify their positions.

Kinsibba was captured by the jihadist rebels of Jaysh Al-Fateh (Army of Conquest) last month after they launched a massive offensive in the northern Latakia countryside.

As long as the jihadist rebels control Kinsibba, they will be able to launch missiles towards several government controlled villages in the Latakia Governorate, including the President Bashar Al-Assad’s birthplace: Qurdaha.
