Syria, Iran to boost strategic military cooperation

A session of official talks between Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed Forces, Defense Minister Fahd Jassem al-Freij and his Iranian counterpart Hossein Dehghan was held on Tuesday on means of boosting strategic cooperation against terrorism.
During the meeting, the two ministers underlined determination to enhance strategic cooperation between the two armies to confront challenges which encounter the region and pose a threat to its existence and identity.
They affirmed that Syria, Iran and the resistance will not allow the enemies to achieve their goals or affect Syria, adding that Syria’s struggle against the global conspiracy, for more than 4 years, has foiled the US-Zionist plots to divide the region and loot its resources.
The two sides condemned acts of the Takfiri terrorist organizations in Syria and the region, the killing and systemized destruction of institutions and infrastructure, the unlimited support they receive from some regional and international countries in spite of the UN Security council resolutions in this regard.
The Syrian defense Minister briefed his Iranian counterpart on the latest field developments in Syria and the achievements gained by soldiers of the Syrian army to defeat terrorism all over the country.
He affirmed Syria’s determination to combat terrorism until purifying all Syrian territories from this dangerous plague which poses a threat to the region and the world.
For his part, the Iranian Defense Minister underlined his country’s unlimited support to Syria, saying “Iran will not allow anyone to affect or target Syria’s security, stability and territorial integrity.”
He added that his country backs the Syrian government efforts in combating terrorism and running the inter-Syrian national dialogue, away from foreign intervention.
Earlier, Syrian and Iranian military leaderships discussed the steps of mutual strategic cooperation between the two countries’ armies to face regional challenges and threats and the terror dangers on the region and the world.
The talks were held in Tehran between Minister al-Freij and his Iranian counterpart Hossein Dehghan and other Iranian military leaders.

Al-Freij is heading a military delegation on a two-day visit to Iran.
Upon his arrival in Tehran earlier today, al-Freij was welcomed by Dehghan in an official reception ceremony, during which he laid a wreath on the Martyr’s Memorial and the national anthems of Syria and Iran were played.
