Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Sends Hundreds of Fresh Soldiers to Southern Damascus to Face ISIL

The government troops dispatched hundreds of fresh elite forces from Eastern Qalamoun to the Southern part of Damascus province to confront the ISIL terrorists.

Hundreds of elite forces were forwarded by the army to the Southern part of Damascus province after terrorists in Eastern Ghouta endorsed an evacuation agreement with Damascus to leave the region for Northern Syria.

The elite forces are equipped with modern military hardware.

The army intends to intensify anti-ISIL operation in Southern Damascus.

Meantime, the Syrian army continued its military advances in other parts of Syria over the past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in provinces across Syria.

Damascus

The Syrian Army dispatched hundreds of fresh elite forces from Eastern Qalamoun to the Southern part of Damascus province on Sunday to purge the region of ISIL terrorists.

The army forwarded hundreds of elite forces to the Southern part of Damascus province after terrorists in Eastern Ghouta endorsed an evacuation agreement with Damascus to leave the region for Northern Syria.

The elite forces are equipped with modern military hardware.

The army intends to intensify anti-ISIL operation in Southern Damascus.

Also, field sources reported that the pro-government forces have remarkably advanced against terrorists in several flanks in Southern Damascus.

In a relevant development on Saturday the army men engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL in al-Tazoamon region in Southern Damascus and took full control over several buildings in al-Salikheh neighborhood and Imam Ali Grand Mosque.

Also, the army’s artillery and missile units and aircraft pounded terrorists’ centers in Hajar al-Aswad, Yarmouk Refugee Camp and its nearby areas, destroying several positions.

Tens of terrorists, including ISIL’s security Commanders Abu Mohammad al-Adnani and his deputy Abu Zeinab, were killed in the fighter jets’ raids near the Japanese Hospital in Yarmouk camp.

In the meantime, a number of terrorists surrendered to the army in Southern Damascus.

A military source said that ceasefire agreement will be implemented in the region after the army comes to the conclusion that the terrorists will observe the agreement’s terms and conditions.

Deir Ezzur

A number of gunmen, including two senior commanders, were killed in a fresh round of clashes among ISIL terrorists in Southeastern Deir Ezzur on Sunday.

Abu As’ad Soudani along with two other ISIL militants were killed by a number of defected members of the terrorist group in the town of al-Sha’afa in Southeastern Deir Ezzur.

Abu Khalid al-Tunisi, another ISIL commander that had previously cut off relations with the terrorist group’s ring Leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was gunned down by some ISIL members in a small pocket of land that is still under ISIL’s control South-East of the province.

The fresh clashes among ISIL terrorists erupted after non-Syrian members of the group named Abu Fatimah Tunisi as their candidate as the successor of al-Baghdadi.

Raqqa

A large mass grave of ISIL victims, where some 500 bodies had been buried, was discovered in the Central part of Raqqa city, local sources reported on Sunday.

The sources reported that a large mass grave with over 500 bodies was discovered in al-Mahkama building in al-Rashid sports club in Raqqa city center that was once the capital of the self-proclaimed Caliphate of the ISIL in Syria.

They added that the mass grave includes 500 bodies of civilians and ISIL terrorists.

Aleppo

Syria’s Tahrir Front pushed back Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front) from more regions in Western Aleppo on Sunday.

Syria’s Tahrir Front stormed the positions of Tahrir al-Sham in Western Aleppo and managed to capture five villages and towns, including the towns of Taqad and Ajel.

Also, the Front kept its gunmen on alert in the town of al-Abzamou in Western Aleppo and the town of Tal Adah in Northern Aleppo.

In the meantime, local sources reported that heavy infighting underway between the two rival groups near the town of Mar’iyan in Southern Idlib has left a number of casualties on both sides.

Homs

The Syrian Army troops fended off terrorist groups’ heavy attacks in Eastern and Northern Homs on Sunday, inflicting major losses on the militants.

The ISIL, deployed in Eastern Badiyeh (desert) stormed the army positions East of the Third Station in Eastern Homs, but the army, backed up by the artillery and missile units, warded off their attack.

A large number of the ISIL gunmen were killed or wounded and their remaining pockets retreated.

In the meantime, other units of the army engaged in heavy fighting with terrorists in Salim and al-Hamrat in Northeastern Homs, and repelled their attack, killing a large number of the militants.

The artillery and missile units pounded the movements and positions of the terrorists West of the town of al-Rastan, inflicting major losses on the militants.
