Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Repels Terrorists’ Attack on Strategic Region in Daraa

The Syrian army thwarted an attempt by the militants to regain control of the Al-Nassib crossing near the border with Jordan.
The foreign-backed terrorist groups, including Al-Nusra Front and the Free Syrian Army, were pushed back as they sustained heavy casualties in their failed attack.

Also in the past 24 hours, the Syrian army advanced on several fronts in Aleppo countryside and entered the free zone after it controlled Al-Amusalamiyah amid collapses in the ranks of the insurgents, sources said.

The sources said that the Syrian army controlled Al-Amusalamiyah village in Northeast of Aleppo in light of the withdrawal of a large number of militants following the killing of dozens of them.

Reports said that the Syrian army continued its advances in the Northern province of Aleppo and regained control over three more strategic areas in the region.

“The army units took control of Al-Jabaliyeh village, a cement factory and a strategic government building in the Northern parts of the Aleppo Central Prison after striking heavy blows on the positions of the militant groups there,” informed military sources said.

According to the sources, the army killed tens of the militants and injured dozens more in the clashes, while others were forced to flee the battlefield.

Also, 113 wanted people surrendered to the Syrian authorities on Sunday.

They are from the provinces of Idlib, Hama and Aleppo.

Syrian Armed Forces raided the strongholds of rebels in Daraa province on Sunday, killing and injuring scores of them.

The foreign-sponsored militants sustained heavy toll, as the Syrian Army made advances in Um al-Mayazen area as well as Qasr al-Bitar, al-Ghuzlan, al-Yadoudeh, and Tafas districts in Atman town.

Yehya Ibrahim Issa, Omran Mahmoud al-Hariri, Hussam al-Jawabra, Mohammad Ahmad Majarish and Mohammad Anwar were identified among the killed rebels.

Elsewhere, the rebels suffered major losses in the areas of Morek, al-Latmeen and Kifr Zeita in Hama countryside. Scores of them lost their lives during the operations.

Also, the army stormed the strongholds of the insurgents in Hallouz, Kifr Najd, Saraqeb, Maarat al-Numan and al-Rami in Idlib countryside, leaving too many of them dead and wounded.Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs and terrorists against both the army and civilians.

The Syrian Army made major advances in Quneitra and Idlib provinces on Sunday, killing and injuring a large number of foreign-backed militants.

The army soldiers targeted the hideouts of the rebels in Tal Mas’hara, Nabe’ al-Sakher, and Um Batina areas in the Southern province of Quneitra, inflicting heavy losses on them.

Also, members of al-Nusra Terrorist Front suffered heavy losses in the town Ma’ardibsa, as the Syrian Army scored ground in the Northern province of Idlib.

Meantime, the Syrian Kurdish fighters pushed back the ISIL terrorists in Kobani, regaining the control of more areas in the strategic town.

The Kurdish forces repelled several attacks by the ISIL terrorists last night, and managed to clear more areas of the Takfiri people.

The development comes as local officials have expressed optimism about the possibility of liberating the whole city from the ISIL grip in the near future.

Kobani, Syria’s largest Kurdish city, has seen intense battles over the past month, as ISIL terrorists are trying to seize the city due to its strategic location.
