Syria: Army, Popular Forces Preempt Terrorist Attack on Strategic Towns in Aleppo Countryside

The Syrian army backed by popular forces thwarted terrorist attacks on two strategic towns in Aleppo countryside.
The Al-Nusra Front terrorists were pushed back from the surrounding areas of Nabl and Al-Zahra before they could attack the towns.

The residents of Nabl and Al-Zahra were under the siege of the terrorist groups for two years.

“The popular forces in Nabl and Al-Zahra in the Northern parts of Aleppo have been fighting against the terrorists with light weapons for two years now,” an informed source told FNA.

Also in the past 24 hours, the Syrian army expanded its offensives against the terrorists in nearby areas of the Eastern Province of Deir Ezzur, claiming the lives of a large number of Takfiri militants.

The army and popular forces raided insurgents’ gathering centers in al-Tharda near Abbaret al-Mayadin in the countryside of Deir Ezzur province, killing and injuring several terrorists, arresting some others.

Meantime, strongholds of terrorists in al-Kharita, Ayyash, al-Taim, al-Majdal, al-Jubaila, al-Rushdiya, al-Hwaiqa, al-Rasafa, al-Arafa, and al-Sina’a were targeted by the Syrian soldiers who killed a large number of rebels in the battlefields.

Deir Ezzur province is bordering Iraq’s al-Anbar province where a large number of the ISIL terrorist are fighting Baghdad government.

The ISIL terrorists have also massive presence in Deir Ezzur province, and are being supported by their Iraqi counterparts since June.

Damascus government, that is aware of the strategic importance of Deir Ezzur, has recently intensified its liberation operations in the province to cut logistic routs of militiamen in the Central parts of the country.

Elsewhere, the Syrian armed forces raided insurgents’ strongholds in various parts of the Northwestern Province of Idlib, killing and injuring so many anti-government fighters.

Kminas village in Southeast of Idlib was the scene of heavy clashes between the army men and militants who left so many killed and injured in the battlefields and fled to far areas.

Meantime, several militants were killed and injured in the army’s operations near Seejir and Ayn Martyn in the Idlib province.

Also, the Syrian soldiers staged massive operations against militants in Kharab al-Shahm in Daraa countryside, which resulted to killing, wounding and arresting of too many foreign-backed fighters.

Both Idlib and Daraa province are strategic for Damascus. They share borders with Turkey and Jordan respectively.

Both Turkey and Jordan have been involved in infiltration of international terrorists into Syria that has been faced insurgency since 2011.

In 2014, specially after victory of President Bashar al-Assad in the country’s presidential election, the army has gained upper hand in its anti-terrorism campaign, and has been partly successful in sealing borders with Turkey and Jordan.

Also, Syrian Army, in a series of operations against anti-government militiamen in the Central Province of Homs, killed, injured and arrested a large number of them.

The army soldiers attacked insurgents in Taldo, in al-Hola in the Homs countryside, which resulted in the killing of several fighters in the battlefronts, the Syrian Arab News Agency reported.

Meanwhile, a Unit of the Army eliminated many terrorists in Khan al-Sobol on Aleppo-Homs highway.

Army also killed and injured a number of terrorists in Zaizon village in Sahil al-Ghab.

The first waves of protests initiated in Homs in 2011 by some political parties, but later due to interference of some western and regional countries the civil protests turned into massive insurgency across country.

Military observers have said that Homs Province’s border with Lebanon was the one of the first spots of infiltration of international terrorist groups into Syria.

Western countries’ arms and certain regional countries’ petrodollars turned Syria’s conflict into one of the deadliest civil wars in the Middle-East in the recent decades.

Based on statistics, over 200,000 people have been killed due to insurgency and its repercussion, and meantime, millions have been displaced inside and outside of the country.
