Spokesman of the Iranian Government Mohammad Baqer Nobakht warned the Saudi officials not to make a mistake to take any aggressive move against Iran or wait for Tehran’s crushing response.

“If Saudi Arabia utters certain words to make up for its regional failures, its response is ready. If these words turn into operations (practice) even one step, some moves will be adopted (by Iran) that would make them regret their views,” Nobakht told reporters in his weekly press conference in Tehran on Tuesday.

He underlined that the Iranian government has on several occasions given firm responses to the Saudi government’s indigested measures which are aimed at creating tension in the region.

He also reiterated that the views expressed by Iran’s defense minister are the official position of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In relevant remarks on Monday, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan blasted his Saudi counterpart Mohammed bin Salman for his comments against Iran, and warned the Riyadh government of Tehran’s crushing response in case of making any stupid move.

“We warn them against doing anything ignorant, but if they do something stupid, we will leave nowhere untouched apart from Mecca and Medina,” General Dehqan said in an interview broadcast live on the Arabic-language al-Manar television.

The Iranian Defense Minister’s remarks came in reaction to Saudi defense minister’s allegations who ruled out ties with Iran after Tehran announced the possibility of de-escalation of tensions if Riyadh halts its war against Yemen.

General Dehqan reiterated that if the Saudis do anything stupid, the Iranian army will hit back and destroy the entire kingdom, excluding Mecca and Medina.

The Saudi deputy crown prince said that any battle between Riyadh and Tehran would take place on Iran’s soil. “We will work to have the battle in Iran rather than in Saudi Arabia,” Prince Mohammed added.
